Every parent, at some point, puts on a different kind of hat.

Not the practical one — the one that schedules and organises and problem-solves. The quieter one. The one you put on when you stop and ask yourself: what does my child actually need right now?

That’s where Glowfly began.

Not in a boardroom. Not with a business plan. But with a parent watching two daughters — and seeing, with complete clarity, that they needed entirely different things.

The first: bright, curious, full of potential — but not built for the formal, exam-focused, academically linear world the system asked her to perform in. She needed a teacher who could see past the mark sheet. Who would meet her where she was, not where the syllabus expected her to be.

The second: hugely academic, a mind that reaches toward the stars — perhaps literally, with astrophysics in her future. She found a school that finally matched her potential. But arriving somewhere that believes in you completely comes with its own pressure: ground to make up, gaps to close, the urgent work of catching up to the version of herself her new school already knows she can be. She needed a teacher who could keep pace with her — and help her get there faster.

Two daughters. Two completely different needs. The same question underneath it all:

Who is the right teacher for her, at this moment in time?

We looked. We searched. And we built what we couldn’t find.
